Mary Baker Eddy (1821-1910) discovered
Christian Science in 1866, when she was
healed of a serious injury after reading one of
Jesus’ healings in the New Testament. This healing led her to discover and establish a system of spiritual healing, based on Biblical laws. She later named her discovery Christian Science.

About Science & Health:

In 1875, she first wrote and published Science
and Health with Key to the Scriptures
, the
textbook of Christian Science. Today it is
published in 17 languages and Braille.

Establishing The Church:

In 1879, Mrs. Eddy established The Church of
Christ, Scientist, and subsequently founded its
various periodicals and activities. Our branch
church, the First Church of Christ, Scientist,
Pasadena, is one of 2,000 branch churches
worldwide in 80 countries.
